Welcome to our volunteer page! We are a 501(C) (3) organization that raises working facility dogs and trains working and comfort dogs to provide support to people in a variety of settings, from hospitals and nursing homes to schools and crisis centers. We rely on the help of volunteers to make it all happen. We’re grateful for your interest in volunteering and helping us make a difference in the lives of so many people!
There are many ways to get involved with our organization, whether you’re interested in working with the dogs directly or supporting our mission in other ways. Here are some opportunities for volunteering:
Puppy Raising
We’re always in need of volunteers to raise puppies and prepare them for their work as facility dogs and comfort dogs. This involves providing a safe and nurturing home environment, socializing the puppies, and teaching them basic obedience commands. Puppy raising is a big responsibility, but it’s also incredibly rewarding! See our raiser FAQ’s for more information.
Dog Training
If you have experience in dog training, we would love to have you volunteer your time and skills to help us train our facility dogs and comfort dogs. You’ll work with our puppies and dogs to teach them advanced obedience, task work, and public access skills.
Handler Support
Our organization also needs volunteers to support our facility dog and comfort dog handlers. This could involve helping handlers transport the dogs to different locations, assisting with dog care and grooming, or helping with administrative tasks related to the dogs’ work.
Event Support
We frequently host events to raise awareness and funds for our organization, and we need volunteers to help with event planning, setup, and cleanup. This is a great opportunity for those who enjoy working with people and have a knack for event planning.
Social Media
Are you good with managing social media accounts and photography. Our dogs are the perfect subject to post about. Help us spread the work and spread the love on social media sites.
